Hayhurst & Co contributed to the RIBA Learning department’s ‘Festival of Learning’ in October half-term 2019. We took the position that for the planet to survive, nature needs to be seen as an active part of our human landscape. This means that new development, through architecture, needs to be bio-diverse and respect the variety of life on earth.
We explored the inclusion of wildlife habitats in design through the creation of a Bug Metropolis in the RIBA’s Florence Hall. The day of making explored the design of appropriate environments, constructing structures with natural materials and lead to the creation of new habitats for wildlife that will be installed at the RIBA and beyond.
