Our proposal for the Alder Centre at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital, Liverpool, was shortlisted along with four other practices. The building would provide a new home for counselling and support services for anyone affected by the death of a child, as well as housing the national Freephone Child Death Helpline. The incredibly sensitive nature of the buildings functions lead to a highly refined arrangement of spaces, refuge, sanctuary, prospect and activity. #architecture #riba #HayhurstandCo #competition #shortlist @riba @ribanorthwest @alderhey
